As their name implies, the Afghan artisans of For Such a Time as This are unified in both community and purpose. “When we are together, we learn what is going on in the world. Being together makes us brave and gives us courage to fight for our rights.” Most Afghan women learn from an early age how to work with a needle and thread and beading. And now they receive further training through For Such a Time as This. Each bracelet, with more than a thousand glass seed beads, is a labor of love and a unique work of art.
