WorldCrafts and More Than Sparrows are Providing Hope and Opportunity in Rwanda

More Than Sparrows is an artisan group in Kigali, Rwanda, comprised of vulnerable women, most of whom are trapped in the sex-worker industry due to extreme poverty. Most of these women and young ladies are suffering with HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. These women are at the bottom of Rwandan social scale, facing the contempt of their fellow citizens daily. The group is providing a holistic approach— addressing their social, economic, physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs.

More Than Sparrows is showing these women His love and power to transform their lives and bring them eternal hope. The group is providing every artisan with income so they can leave prostitution and still afford to send their children to school and pay for medical insurance, food, and rent. By creating beautiful products with their hands and receiving financial benefits from their work, the women’s dignity and self-esteem is restored, and they are able to break the cycle of poverty.
